KODIAC, the sire of this year’s Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Tiggy Wiggy, has set a European record for the number of individual two -year -old winners in a year.
The record breaking 43rd winner came in the form of Cry No More, who recently struck at Taby in Sweden for trainer Catharina Vang.
Kodiac has broken the record of 42 winners set by his Green Desert half brother Invincible Spirit in 2010 and Darley sire Kheleyf, who achieved the feat in 2012 when his juveniles were headed by Group 2 winner Penny’s Picnic.
Cry No More joins the list of Kodiac’s winners which also includes Listed scorers Kodi Bear and Patience Alexander as well as Tiggy Wiggy, who became her sire’s first Group 1 winner.
A son of Danehill, Kodiac won four races with his biggest victory coming in a handicap at Nad Al Sheba.
He stood his first season at Tally-Ho Stud in 2007 at a fee of €5,000 and next season will stand at a career high of €25.000.
Kodiac’s stock continue to prove popular at the sales. Flaxman stables parted with 460,000gns for a half sister to smart performer The Gold Cheongsam at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale this year.
