Henley On Thames looked a colt with a seriously bright future when making it back-to-back wins in the 6f nursery at York on Wedneday for Amo Racing and Kevin Philippart de Foy.

This race is traditionally a competitive affair but Henley On Thames won well, showing good pace and a game attitude to repel all challengers.

"He got the job done when we stepped him up to six furlongs at Hamilton up the hill," said jockey David Egan. "He was back on the slowish ground today and got a nice lead into the race, I just waited to come for my run and he's done well today. He's hit the line well.

"Another winner for Persian Force, which is important for the team.

"Winning a big handicap like that will give him a hike in the weights but the end goal is for him to keep progressing through the ranks."

Bred by the University Partnership out of the Siyouni mare University, a relation to the high-class fillies Dietrich and Beauty Bright from the Chimes Of Freedom family, Henley On Thames joined current connections when sold for £125,000 as a Goffs UK breezer.

He is one of 17 winners for Persian Force, who is represented in Friday's Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes by recent Group 3 Molecomb Stakes heroine Pershaada.

His win came on the same card that the Tally-Ho bred and sold Miss Yechance landed the 5f 3ho handicap for Al Leith Racing and Karl Burke. It was the fourth win for the Cotai Glory filly, who was bought from us at the Goffs UK Premier Sale by Ellie Whitaker on behalf of Lovatt and Bacon.
