Excellent Truth, a former French Group 3 winner for Maurice Delcher Sanchez, broke through at Grade 1 level for John Stewart's Resolute Racing on Saturday when the game winner of the Diana Stakes at Saratoga.
She becomes the latest Group/Grade 1 winner for Cotai Glory and the second within a week following the Listed success of Supreme Winner in Italy.
Excellent Truth had run some excellent races since her transferral to Chad Brown in the US, namely when beaten by less than a length in both the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley and Just A Game Stakes.
She had to be game on Saturday, quickening through horses before repelling the outside challenge of She Feels Pretty to win by a neck.
"I'm really happy for this horse," said Chad Brown. "She had her day today. She has had two tough trips. I think you could argue with a cleaner trip, she could be 3-for-3 in the country. She has always trained like a top horse all winter. I want to thank John Stewart [owner, Resolute Racing] and his team. He could've picked anyone to train her, I was so happy when she showed up in our barn at Payson this winter. She has never had a bad day. She deserved the win today."
Winning owner John Stewart said: "It's awesome. We knew she was this quality of horse.
level with the best horses, and I think we all saw that today."
Excellent Truth was bred by Sandra Russell out of the Teofilo mare Moment Of Truth. High-class in France, she joined current connections when purchased for €1.6 million at last year's Arqana December Sale.
