New winner caps good week for Kessaar

A productive week for Kessaar ended on a high on Sunday with the game success of Dayron in a maiden at Pisa.

Previously placed on both his starts, the Andrea Fabiani-trained colt fought back gamely to win the 1,500 metre event in the final strides.

He becomes the second maiden winner of the week for Kessaar following Dynamite Katie, who looked a filly to follow when scoring on her second start at Dundalk.

Dayron was bred in Ireland by Liam and Sean Mullen out of the six-time winner Kimbay, by Windsor Knot.

They continue a fine season for Kessaar, which began at Newmarket's Craven meeting in April with the impressive debut success of the Roger Varian-trained Tajalla. Other highlights include the Group 3-placed Ipanema Princess and the tough Listed-placed Bolt Action.

Kessaar will stand for €5,000 in 2023.
