Leading first-crop sire Starman fired in another promising winner when Tally-Ho bred Star Material justified favouritism for owner Steve Ryan in the 5f novice at Ripon on Wednesday - a race previously won by Cotai Glory's G1 Prix de l'Abbaye heroine The Platinum Queen.
Previously runner-up at Pontefract, the colt outbattled the Mehmas colt Fortification to win by just over a length, with the pair well clear of the third.
Trainer Adrian Keatley paid €100,000 for Star Material out of our draft at last year's Tattersalls Ireland September Sale. He is out of the Kodiac mare Marriage Material - and therefore bred on the same cross as Starman's exciting unbeaten Group 3 winner Lady Iman. In turn, Marriage Material is a full-sister to Group 2 winner and successful sire Ardad.
Starman's growing collection of winners is headed by the aforementioned Lady Iman and Green Sense, who ran 1-2 for the sire in the Group 3 Fillies Sprint Stakes at Naas.
