Another big-race result came the way of leading first-crop sire Starman on Friday as Astrazar - appropriately trained by Ed Walker - landed the British EBF £100,000 at York.
Previously an easy winner at Ffos Las, the colt struck late to deny Ghost Mode and make it two wins on the bounce for nearly £95,000 in earnings.
"All credit goes to Astrazar," said jockey Paul Mulrennan. "He fluffed the start, he jumped very slow and I ended up a long way back. But he came good for me from halfway. I had to weave my way through and once I got daylight he really knuckled down and galloped to the line. He has a good attitude and will make a good three-year-old."
Bred by Joseph Kennedy, Astrazar is out of the Mehmas mare Zara Mac.
