'A great advert for Starman' - new Listed win for 'tough' Soul Love

David Ward's homebred Starman filly Soul Love added yet further to her record on Wednesday when taking the Listed Yeomanstown Stud Irish EBF Stakes over 6f at Naas.

The win, achieved in authoritative fashion under Pierre-Louis Jamin, marked her second success at Listed level this year following the Chelmer Stakes at Goodwood.

"Soul Love is a great advert for Starman," said trainer Karl Burke. "It was a little bit of a concern [this race coming soon after York, where she ran third in the Group 3 Summer Stakes] but we didn't need to do much at home with her.

"She looked great and she travelled over really well so we were very hopeful as I knew she was tough and I thought the track would suit her. There's a Group 3 back here in a month's time so that would be high on the list."

"We came here hoping she would run a massive race," said Pierre-Louis Jamin. "She's very tough and straightforward and she loves her racing. Every time they came at her, she went again."

Now the winner of four of six starts, Soul Love is an appropriate stakes winner for Starman given she carries the colours of her breeder David Ward, who campaigned her sire to win the July Cup and Duke Of York Stakes.

She was bred by Ward out of the stakes-placed Lambeth Walk, by Charm Spirit.
