Big day for Cotai Glory

Cotai Glory enjoyed another excellent day on Friday, not only as the sire of Rome scorer Chiaroscuro but also King X J, who ran a fast-finishing second in the Listed Star Appeal Stakes at Dundalk.

Chiaroscuro showed smart form on his debut when finding only the stakes filly Island Of Love too good and improved on that at Rome on Friday, quickening clear for an easy two-length success.

Chiaroscuro was bred by Foxland Stud out of three-time winner Loumarin, a half-brother to the stakes-placed Smokey Lane and this week's Galileo Gold winner The Menstone Gem.

He becomes the 31st winner for Europe's leading first-crop sire Cotai Glory. Group 2 Prix Robert Papin winner Atomic Force leads the way among his six stakes horses but King X J served notice that he could take high order with a fast-finishing second in the Listed Star Appeal Stakes to Snaffles.

Bred by Tom and Hazel Russell, King X J was previously successful in the Tattersalls Ireland September Super Auction Sale Stakes for Michael O'Callaghan and boasts earnings of £132,000 as a result.
