There was yet another landmark result for Starman on Thursday as North Coast ran out the easy winner of the Group 3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown to become the latest stakes winner from the first crop of his sire.
His win came on the same day that daughter Orion's Belt ran third in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown and hot on the heels of Green Sense's victory in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly on Sunday. July's action also features an easy win by Venetian Sun in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket.
Owned by John Oxley, North Coast had looked a smart colt in the making for Joseph O'Brien when breaking his maiden at Down Royal prior to running second in the Listed Pat Smullen Stakes.
Bounced out on this occasion by Dylan Browne McMonagle, he found more when challenged early in the straight by Flushing Meadows, quickening clear for a six-length score.
“He ran great in Naas and you’d have to be impressed with what he did today," said Joseph O'Brien.
“I backed him up a bit quick coming here, so we’ll probably go straight to the National Stakes now rather than going for the Futurity on the way. That would be my immediate thought.
“He’s a smart colt and has an exciting future.
“I was very impressed with his last half furlong. It looked like it was going to be an eyeballing match down to the line, but he really pulled away again.”
North Coast was bred by Ringfort Stud out of the stakes-winning Australia mare La Australiana.
North Coast becomes the fourth stakes winner for Starman after Lady Iman, Green Sense and Venetian Sun and is one of seven stakes horses for his sire overall.
