Persian Force fired in another exciting new winner on Monday when Immortal Guard ran out the impressive winner of the 6f maiden at the Curragh.

On what was a good day for Persian Force, another first-crop representative, What A Girl Wants, ran second for Amo Racing in the Listed First Flier Stakes.

The race is traditionally a very competitive maiden as illustrated by the fact that it has yielded the likes of Andab, Barnavara, Quick Suzy and Beckford in recent years.

Partnered by Donnagh O'Connor for Robson de Aguiar, the colt made smooth progress in the centre to take it up a furlong out and win in cosy fashion.

"I was confident as he has shown a lot of class and ability at home," said Robson. "He's still a little bit weak but when the sunshine came, he started to develop. I think he will improve a lot because he has more to give whatever he did today. He hasn't finished growing yet - he's going the right way, he has a nice attitude and really put his head down.

"This horse can do 6f but later on, he could go a mile."

Immortal Guard carries the colours of Ramiro Restrepo, Jacob West and Giselle de Aguiar, who paid €100,000 for him as Tres Amigos at the Goffs Orby Sale. He was bred by Skehanagh Bloodstock out of Souls In The Wind, a winning Fastnet Rock relation to the hardy Group 2 scorer King Jock.

Immortal Guard joins Force Noir and Dragon Force as recent exciting first-crop winners for Persian Force.
