Fresh from his win in the Listed Bloomer's Vase, Kodiac's latest star Aphelios continued his upward ascent for trainer Annike Bye Hansen in Sweden on Tuesday by winning the Listed Challenge Stakes at Bro Park. Previously a smart handicapper for Mick Appleby, the gelding scored from the Cotai Glory 5yo Hotline Bling in second.
Bred by Kingwood Stud, Aphelios won five times in Britain before being bought by Walter Buick at last year’s Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.
He is a half-brother to Group 2 winner Land Of Legends and out of the Singspiel mare Homily.
