Fillies from the first crop of Starman dominated the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Blackbeard Fillies Stakes at Naas on Sunday, with our homebred Lady Iman getting the better of Green Sense in a thrilling finish.
The Starman fillies battled it out to pull nearly two lengths clear of the third, the Frankel filly Signora.
Lady Iman has been faultless for Ger Lyons during her brief career to date, winning first time out at Dundalk before an equally easy win in the Listed First Flier Stakes at the Curragh. For a brief moment on Sunday it appeared as though fellow Starman filly Green Sense, herself an impressive debut winner at the Curragh for Joseph O'Brien, would give her plenty to think about but Lady Iman ultimately answered all of Colin Keane's calls to stretch away and win in good style.
Royal Ascot now beckons.
"She was lovely today, very straigthforward, but she always has been since she came in," said jockey Colin Keane. "She arrived with a high reputation and she's fulfilling it. You can put her where you want in a race, she can go forward or behind and she has pace - she ticks a lot of boxes. She gets there very easily and only does enough - we're very happy.
"She ticks all the boxes for Ascot, she goes on any ground and has a great temperament."
Starman's Royal Ascot army could also include Green Sense as well as Tally-Ho breezer Gold Digger, who created a fine impression when landing her debut at Yarmouth for Richard Spencer on Wednesday.
Lady Iman was bred by us out of the Kodiac mare Lady Aria, also the dam of current high-class three-year-old sprinter West Acre (by Mehmas). She is the second stakes winner this week out of a Kodiac mare following French Listed scorer Diego Ventura (by Mehmas).
Champion sprinter Starman stands for €10,000.
