Listed success for Mehmas 4yo

Power Under Me made a classy winning return to action for Ger Lyons on Sunday when successful in the Listed Cork Stakes at Cork.

Winner of the Listed Testimonial Stakes when last seen, the four-year-old travelled strongly in the front division for Colin Keane and stayed on well to run down Mooneista to win as the 5/2 favourite.

"He had to dig deep," jockey Colin Keane told Racing TV. "He was rock solid all of last year, he had good form with A Case Of You. He's not a bad horse when he gets his conditions. He's a year older now and a bit stronger.

"He really wants it. Mooneista had quickened away, but when he got her in his sights, he got his head down and really wanted it."

Power Under Me was bred by Barbel Reiss out of Oonagh, a winning Arakan half-sister to the Group 3-placed Majestic Myles and Coventry Stakes runner-up Parbold.

Power Under Me, who carries the colours of Vincent Soul, is one of 16 stakes winners for Mehmas, who is standing for €50,000.
