Mehmas 3yo doubles up!

The Commins family's Drish Venture doubled up in good style at Dundalk on Friday to continue the fine start to 2021 for his leading sire Mehmas.

Previously successful over 6f at Dundalk, Drish Venture made light of the drop back to 5f in the rated race, travelling strongly throughout and ultimately winning well by a length-and-a-half.

Drish Venture is one of 57 winners from the first crop of the record-breaking Mehmas. He is also a real success story for Mark Commins and his family, who bred the gelding out of the Inchinor mare Flashing Blade.

“He's done it very well again today," Donal Commins told Irishracing.com. "Ben (Coen, winning jockey) thinks he wants five furlongs on the grass but maybe six furlongs here.

“My father Donal lives for this horse at home as does my son Paul who does everything with him. For a small stable this is unreal."
