Mehmento adds to another good day for Mehmas

A productive day for Tally-Ho breezers on Sunday was headlined by the fine effort of Mehmento to run second in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

Making his first start on turf following two facile successes at Southwell, the Archie Watson-trained colt showed a smart change of gear under Hollie Doyle to steal a march on his rivals entering the final furlong. Only the favourite, Group 2 winner Chindit, was able to run him down.

Mehmento, who was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock out of the Tally-Ho Stud draft at last year's Tattersalls Guineas Sale, becomes the 15th stakes performer from the first crop of Mehmas.

His Group-placed run also came on the same day that another Mehmas 3yo I Am Magnetic, bred by Ringfort Stud with Tally-Ho, ran third in the Listed Premio Certosa at Milan in Italy.

Not only that, another member of his first crop, Acclam, also broke his maiden in fine style at Strasbourg for Henri-Alex Pantall. Bred by Ecurie de Castillon, he is out of Ehteyat, by Thewayyouare, and would appear to have a bright future.

"He won very well by some margin," jockey Julien Guillochon told Equidia. "This is a good sign for the future, he should be a good horse. "

Sunday's action also featured a smart winning debut by Tally-Ho breezer Burgarita in a hot looking maiden at Longchamp. The daughter of Sea The Stars was purchased privately last year by Mick Donohoe of the BBA Ireland to race for Ecurie Ama Zingteam under the care of Andre Fabre.
