Galileo Gold was represented by his second winner of the week on Friday when Thor De Sa Matta gained a deserved success at Sassari.
A fair fourth in the Criterium Sardo, the most important event for juveniles in Sardinia, the Antonio Cottu-trained colt won easily by three lengths.
Bred by J G Reid, he becomes the second winner out of Best Steps, a half-sister to Group 2 winner Stormont. Best Steps has a yearling filly by Galileo Gold and a filly foal by Inns Of Court.
Classic winner Galileo Gold has made an outstanding start to his stud career as the sire of five stakes horses including the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes hero Ebro River and the ever consistent Oscula, winner of the Group 3 Prix Six Perfection. Oscula has also been placed in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes, Group 2 Prix du Calvados and Group 3 Albany Stakes.
