'The future looks bright' - Mehmas filly Copinet impressive at Lingfield

Another day and another winner for Mehmas! A day after Nelson Gay had become Mehmas' latest multiple scorer at Wolverhampton, Copinet followed suit by doubling up at Lingfield.

In what looked a competitive 5f novice, Copinet defied a penalty to score easily in the hands of Daniel Muscutt. - always travelling well, she moved smoothly up to the leader Prospect and quickened clear for a near three-length success.

It was the second win in third starts for the James Ferguson-trained filly. The Racing Post were impressed, saying: "She is blessed with plenty of pace. Whatever her next target may be, the future looks bright."

Bred by Plumton Hall Stud and Fernham Farm, she is out of the placed Whipper mare Dominatrix, a relation to 2,000 Guineas hero Golan.

Mehmas' outstanding first crop includes 59 winners, among them 13 stakes horses led by the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes winner Supremacy. He stands for €25,000.
