Popularity for the first yearlings by Persian Force continued into the Tattersalls Somerville Sale on Tuesday.

Six sold for an average of 50,833gns, far above the sale's overall average, led by our filly out of Hoodna, who was bought by Amo Racing for 90,000gns.

“Kia is always pleased to support his stallions and we all thought she was one of the nicest horses here today,” said agent Alex Elliott, who signed the ticket. “Kia got here in good time after the transfer window closed late last night. She’s a very good-looking filly, a bit of a standout for the whole team today – everyone put her up to Kia independently. There’s quite a long list of trainers after her.”

Megan Nicholls also paid 72,000gns for our filly out of Wall Of Sapphire, Lillingston Bloodstock and Kennet Valley paid 52,000gns for our colt out of Imtiyaaz and Harry Eustace and DPA paid 50,000gns for Mount Coote Stud's colt out of Volkovkha.

Speaking to the EBN, Kia Joorabchian said: “We think he could be the real thing. We love what we see, we’re really excited about him and we are supporting him immensely and for the next couple of years because we believe he could be really special.” The filly in question had the support of his most trusted advisors: “Robson [Aguiar] was a fan of her, Alex [Elliott] was a fan of her, she was on both of their short lists, which is usually a good thing. Kevin [Philippart de Foy] really liked her too. I had about seven or eight different people text me about her throughout the sale, saying my god, there’s a beautiful Persian filly here, everyone really liked her a lot. Ross Doyle as well, it was a unanimous vote, so hopefully she will turn out to be a nice filly.

“They look like they will be nice and early; Persian was nice and early as you know, he won the Brocklesby, as early as they get, and he fought throughout the whole year, and I think his babies have a big mark of him and look like they’ll be early too.”

Starman returned an average of 67,500gns highlighted by the sale of our colt out of Pooky for 145,000gns to Tom Whitehead of Powerstown Stud.

Mehmas was responsible for a colt who sold for 100,000gns to Highflyer Bloodstock and Phil Cunningham; he was bred by us out of Atomic Lady.

There was also a 100,000gns sale for Cotai Glory in our filly out of Elkmait; she was another bought by Highflyer Bloodstock and Phil Cunningham.

Kodiac's group was highlight by Egmont Stud's colt out of Beignet bought by Ace Stud for 75,000gns.

Many thanks to everyone who supported us. We were delighted to end the sale as leading vendor and look forward to seeing them all on the track.
