Many thanks to everyone who supported us at the Goffs Orby Sale.
It was a very good two days for Mehmas, the sire of our filly out of Stars In Your Eyes who sold for €470,000 to Blandford Bloodstock (pictured). Owenstown Stud's colt out of Quickstep Lady also sold for €440,000 to Juddmonte Farms while Hollyhill Stud's filly out of Beach Bunny made €400,000 to Al Shira'aa Racing.
Overall, Mehmas returned an average of just over €200,000 for 14 sold.

Speaking after the purchase of the Quickstep Lady colt, Juddmonte's racing manager Barry Mahon said: "We had a good look around the other day and this colt looked strong, precocious and fast, and he’s by a very good stallion in Mehmas. He’s been bred by an outstanding breeder in John Tuthill.
“We submitted a list to the owners, they were keen to buy a sharper two-year-old type, and he was the one they honed in on. I think you have to pay attention to the stallion. He’s a very good sire and we saw that again at the weekend in the Middle Park. The colt has a fast pedigree and Australia is doing well as a broodmare sire; [the dam] was quick too, winning over 6f. He ticked a lot of boxes.
“We have [bred to Mehmas] and have a couple of two-year-olds by him, including one with Ger Lyons that he likes a lot. He had a little injury and so he hasn’t started yet, but he’s not far off. We have a couple of yearlings by him again this year. We’ve used him extensively over the last couple of years.
“We obviously don’t produce that many fast two-year-old types. We’ve seen that Mehmas is very efficient at producing them, so this colt might be handy when we get to next summer."
Mehmas's son Persian Force was also well received, notably as the sire of our colt out of Princess Rose who sold for €130,000. The Castlebridge Consignment's colt out of Souls In The Wind was also popular, selling for €100,000 to Tres Amigos.
Persian Force posted an impressive average of €85,000.

There was also widespread appreciation for the second crop of Starman. Each of his nine through the ring sold headed by our colt out of Elmaliya, who made €275,000 to Marquee Bloodstock, and Peter Nolan's filly out of Margaret Dumont, who sold for €230,000 to Al Wasmiyah Stud.
Starman ended the sale with an average of around €150,000.
Kodiac fired in two six-figure lots, led by Lynn lodge Stud's filly out of L'Age d'Or who sold for €120,000 to Tropical Racing.
Cotai Glory also had a good sale, with two six-figure lots - namely Peter Kelly's half-sister to Caught U Looking who sold for €190,000 to Amo Racing and our colt out of Lady Beware who sold for €125,000 to Richard Fahey - contributing to an average of €93,000.
