100 stakes winners for Kodiac!

Kodiac hit the 100 stakes winner landmark in style on Saturday when the Tally-Ho bred Symbol Of Strength captured the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes for Adrian Keatley.

Kodiac joins an elite club, one populated by other sons of Danehill such as titans Redoute's Choice, Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel.

Among those 100 stakes winners are eight Group 1 scorers including this season's brilliant 2yo Babouche.

Symbol Of Strength went off favourite for the Sirenia having previously run a good third in the Gimcrack Stakes at York. Always prominent under Tom Marquand, he had enough in reserve to repel the late challenges of Jouncy and Brian for a cosy win.

"It's nice to get our first Group race over the line since we came over here," said Keatley. "I was nervous watching and could tell he hated the surface. It was very slow and the quicker the ground the better. Tom Marquand said when he got there he was having a look around and that there was plenty left in the tank so it's onwards and upwards."

He added: "It will very much depend on the ground. He's in the Mill Reef and the Middle Park and all the doors are open to him now. We'll be looking closely at Newbury but his form is right up there with horses who are well up the pecking order for the Middle Park. I think we're entitled to be thinking about those races."

The first foal out of Symbol Of Love, Symbol Of Strength is yet another good example of the Kodiac - Shamardal cross, previously represented by the likes of Hello Youmzain and this season's high-class 3yo sprinter Star Of Mystery. He was bought by his trainer out of our draft at last year's Goffs Premier Sale in Doncaster.

Many thanks to all the breeders who have supported Kodiac over the years.
