'I think he's very smart' - easy for Inns Of Court colt on debut at York

Inns Of Court looks to have a smart colt to represent him in the juvenile division this season in Middleham Park's The Strikin Viking, a Tally-Ho graduate who was the impressive winner of his debut at York on Saturday.

The colt was always travelling smoothly in the hands of Tom Eaves and powered clear to win by nearly three lengths - 'pulverising the field' according to the racecourse commentary.

The Strikin Viking was bred by us out of the Shamardal mare Asmeen and sold by through our breeze-up draft to Middleham Park Racing and Kevin Ryan at last month's Tattersalls Guineas Sale.

"I told Tim [Palin] a while ago that I thought he was a very good horse and I think that's why they put the name to him, as the boys are very passionate about Manchester City," explained Ryan. "They have to go and do it on a racecourse, but I think he's a very smart horse. You might see him back here in August, but we'll be doing something beforehand."
