'He's a great sire' - Mehmas stars during successful Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale

We were delighted to end the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale as leading vendor, and many thanks to everyone who supported us. We wish you the best of luck with your purchases.

Our draft included the sale-topper, a 160,000gns son of Time Test bought by Michael O'Callaghan.

“We thought he did one of the better breezes of the sale and he has a nice pedigree, he’s out of a Galileo mare,” said O’Callaghan. “He’s probably one of the best physicals in the sale. Hopefully he’s useful. He might be one for 7 furlongs but he looks forward enough to be starting in three to four weeks."

It was also an excellent sale for Mehmas as the sire of a filly out of What About Me, who sold for 150,000gns to Alessandro Marconi. Sold by her breeder John Nolan, she was the most expensive filly of the sale.

“She's by a great sire and was the pick of the sale,” he said. “She’s for a new buyer from Dubai. Mr Nolan is more experienced in the game than myself and she came well recommended by him.

“She did an impressive breeze. Time isn’t everything, it’s also how they move and gallop out, and she was very impressive."

Kodiac's draft also hit the headlines thanks to a colt out of Wild Impala who was sold by Con Marnane's Bansha House Stables for 95,000gns to Dean Ivory.
