Practical Joke filly tops Tatts Craven

Best of luck to everyone who supported us at the Tattersalls Craven Sale in Newmarket this week. Tally-Ho Stud ended the sale as leading vendor while Mehmas was leading sire by aggregate.

Our Practical Joke filly out of Purr And Prowl topped the sale at 360,000gns on a bid from Alex Elliott, acting on behalf of Peter Brant's White Birch Farm. We wish them the best of luck with her.

"She's a beautiful filly and she's been bought for White Birch so she's going to go back to Chad Brown, who trained Practical Joke," said Elliott. "She did a great breeze and she's been very highly thought of from day one. Roger O'Callaghan has been raving about her so I'm delighted to get her. She looks like an ideal filly to go back to the States. She's a May foal so she'll need a bit of time but she was the one."

It was also good to see Mehmas so well received. Stephen Hillen and Kevin Ryan paid 200,000gns for a colt out of Party Feet sold by Longways Stables during the first night while Peter and Ross Doyle - purchasers of Mehmas himself as a breezer - paid 155,000gns for Bansha House Stables' colt out of Midnight Destiny.

In all, Mehmas averaged 105,833gns for six sold.

Kodiac also had a good sale, with six sold for an average of 80,333gns.
