Colts out of On The Stage and Azagba were the headline acts of a memorable Goffs November Foal Sale for Mehmas last week.
Plantation Stud's colt out of On The Stage led the way, selling for €160,000 to the BBA Ireland. He sold on the third day of the auction but Mehmas was also well to the fore during day two when accounting for two of the top six lots. They included Amy Marnane's colt out of Azagba, a Listed-placed daughter of Deportivo who we purchased for €145,000.
“It’s brilliant,” said Amy Marnane. “He’s been a cracker since day one and Mehmas is one of the best sires out there."
Azagba has a yearling filly by Inns Of Court and is back in foal to Starman.
“We’re keeping in with Tally-Ho!” said Marnane. “Starman was an electrically fast and consistent racehorse. He’s really exciting.”
Mehmas was also represented by a colt out of Lady Of The Lamp who was sold by Airlie Stud for €130,000 to Grangemore Stud.
Kodiac also had another brilliant sale as the sire of a half-brother to the talented Vadream from Springfort Park Stud who we bought for €230,000. Another representative, a filly out of Princess Rose, was sold by Baroda Stud for €115,000 to Carmel Stud.
We also purchased a fine Cotai Glory brother to King X J for €100,000 from Ballinalard Stud (pictured below).
Inns Of Court's second crop sold for up to €60,000 - namely a colt out of Dance Troupe bought by Boherguy Stud.
